Hello,

Max Mazoch is a master’s student in the School of Journalism and Media. Born and raised in Houston, Texas, his undergraduate and professional work have been dedicated to promoting sustainability within his home state.

Prior to attending the University of Texas, Max earned a BA in Environmental Studies from Southwestern University, where much of his work centered on environmental justice, shedding light on fence-line communities in Houston and water shortages in Central Texas. He also held communications roles with nonprofits, including the Coastal Prairie Conservancy and the Hill Country Conservancy, where he used social media and storytelling to connect communities with local conservation efforts.

Looking ahead, Max hopes to work as an environmental reporter with Texas Monthly or The Texas Tribune, continuing to spotlight cases of environmental injustice in his home state. Outside of work, he enjoys exploring Austin and its surrounding nature, playing guitar, and staying active through a variety of sports.
